Back to Main Lector Page

Hello -

When I attended our liturgy meeting last week, it was brought to my attention that since we are doing the announcements at the beginning of mass, Father and the Deacon are listening to us from the back of the church.  It was noted that, at times, we cannot be heard in the back of the church.

Please note that we are making announcements to the entire church and our church is very long. We should make sure that the microphone is positioned properly and that we project as we read to the entire church. Read slowly and distinctly.

Also, please check that the lectors book is at the proper reading for the day. It is the first lector's responsibility to check that the reading is marked prior to the beginning of mass.

As part of being a lector, your responsibilities include practicing your readings prior to mass, attending all lector meetings and practices, dressing appropriately and coming to your scheduled reading. If you cannot make your assigned time, you must secure a replacement. Do not assume that the other lector can read both.  There have been times when both lectors did not come for the same mass.

This information comes directly to you from Father Leon.
