Welcome to St. Basil the Great
Catholic Church. We are delighted to congratulate you on this happy
occasion of your child's baptism. The Sacrament of Baptism initiates your
child into the Faith Community of St. Basil's, and we invite you to
worship with us as a family on a regular basis. We encourage all families
to get involved in the spiritual life of the parish.
For parents requesting the
Sacrament of Baptism for their children the following are required:
Registered in the parish,
attending Sunday Mass and practicing the faith
Attend 2 baptism preparation classes
which are held on the lst & 2nd Mondays of the month from 7:00 to 9:00 PM
in the Church Annex.
Both parents and godparents are
required to attend the baptism classes. In the event the godparents are
from out of the area, they must provide written proof that they attended
the baptism program available in their local parish.
There is a suggested donation of
$50.00, which covers the cost of your book, candle, symbolic garment,
certificate, and class preparation.
To avoid any misunderstandings
we recommend that no arrangements be made for the date of the
baptism until you have attended the preparation classes. All scheduling
for baptisms will be done at the class, and not by the parish office
staff. Baptisms are held the third Saturday of the month at 11:30 AM
or 1:00 PM. The Baptism Coordinators will work with you to schedule the
best possible date for your child's baptism.
