Greetings to all, and thank you so much for your continued service to St. Basil the Great Church Ministry of the Word!
Beginning with the first Sunday of Advent, November 26 and 27, the Lector assigned to do the first reading will do the announcements before mass.
After our prayer before service, Lector Number 1 will proceed to the ambo and read the announcements and a short description of the gospel for today. The announcements page will be in the front of the petition book. Please review the announcements prior to mass.
When complete, the congregation will stand for the procession and song. Lector 1 will move to the lector chairs at the side of the altar.
Lector Number 2 – if the deacon is not present, then Lector 2 should be prepared to carry in the book of the Gospels and read the petitions. In the event that there is only one Lector and our deacon is not present, please ask one of the EM’s to carry in the book. Also, please remember to move the book from the ambo after reading number 2.
At the end of our reading, we are asked to place our hands upon the book or slightly raise the book prior to saying “The Word of the Lord”. Do not raise your hands up any longer.
Lector books for next year are available in the sacristy.

Dress Code – we are to look our Sunday best during our lector assignments. Please be aware that you are representing the congregation and “dress to impress”.
